Details

Structure

There are departments and committees.

• All aspects of TPI are split into two departments
• Each department has a student that will lead the department team
• Different leadership roles in different departments may collaborate to form committees to address specific issues/events (e.g. Movie Night Committee may contain a translator from the Technical Educators department, many members of the Public Relations department, and all members of the Internal Funds department)
• Committees can contain students who do not have a leadership position

General Expectations

Every person who has a leadership position is expected to…

• Communicate regularly
  • If you aren’t a head of a department, that means talking within your department.
  • If you are a head of a department, that means talking within your department, other department heads, and external leadership.
• Work in a collaborative and effective manner with others
• Learn from constructive criticism and implement solutions
• Maintain active participation within the organization
• Encourage an inclusive environment for all backgrounds
• Ask for help when needed
• and most importantly, strive to have a balance (we don’t want to stress you out!)

Yes, and they do not need to be related. However, priority is given to those with more relevant experience.

The head of the respective department will assume the responsibility. If this is not possible, then it would either be given to other members within the leadership team or the club advisor(s). For example, if no one decided to be a Member & Volunteer Recruiter, then the Treasurer would take on this role.

Students will apply through an application available on each departments’ page. In special exceptions, some students can be recommended by a student leader and will be thoroughly examined for qualifications by the entire leadership team.
